21 Kromrivier Tempranillo
Kromrivier Tempranillo 2021 is a distinctive South African Tempranillo from the Cederberg, Olifants Region, offering vibrant freshness and acidity, integrated oak and a powerful, crunchy tannin structure.
Tasting Notes
The wine has a dense ruby-red colour, with complex aromas of tilled earth, roasted coffee beans, hedgerow fruits and oak spice.
On the palate, vibrant freshness and acidity are supported by integrated oak characters and a big, powerful and crunchy tannin structure. Flavours of blood plums, purple figs, prunes and blackberry envelop the tannins, creating a well-balanced and moreish wine.
The finish is typically rustic and dry, with a touch of liquorice and persistent blackberry character.
Food Pairing
Kromrivier Tempranillo pairs particularly well with grilled lamb chops or barbecued ribs, Spanish-style charcuterie with olives, chorizo and Serrano ham, pasta with tomato-based sauces such as spaghetti bolognese or penne arrabbiata, wild mushroom risotto, grilled Portobello mushrooms, and dark chocolate desserts.
Serving
Serve at 16–18°C to allow the wine’s fruit, spice and savoury characteristics to show at their best.
