Grande Provence

Grande Provence Wine Estate, founded in 1694 by Huguenot settler Pierre Joubert, is a 47-acre historic estate in South Africa’s Franschhoek Valley, the heart of the country’s wine region. Built on a legacy of resilience and craftsmanship, it reflects the enduring influence of French Protestant pioneers who helped shape South African viticulture and culture.

The estate has evolved through successive custodians, including Count Riccardo Agusta (from 1991) and, since 2004, a Dutch-Belgian consortium that has enhanced its standing as a destination for premium wine, cuisine, art, and hospitality.

Today, Grande Provence embodies the unique blend of French heritage and African character that defines Franschhoek — a living expression of centuries of winemaking tradition, cultural history, and enduring ambition.
